Lesley, that looks fantastic. The photos and layout are great. It might be the definitive article on birria. The only problem was that the text is small and difficult to read. Some of the background images make it even more challenging to read. I am a super birria aficionado and I would like to read it in detail, but my eyes are not up to it.

WOW! I found the magnification tool at the top of the display. Now I’m reading sheer food poetry. Congratulations!

There is, by the way, a new birrería in Pátzcuaro serving birria de chivo estilo de Caracuaro. It’s in an attractive new building down at the foot of Av. Lázaro Cárdenas at the 2nd class bus stop, “La Estacíon”. I hope to try it soon.

    Saludos,
    Don Cuevas

Thanks so much, DC. I’m really glad you liked it. (Blushing at the “sheer food poetry” comment.) Hope you’re well!

Very nice, Lesley. I’ve been living in Jocotepec for the last 4 years and you certainly have done our birria restaurants well with your article and photos.
    Saludos!

Wonderful article. You did a great job.I am going to buy the mag just for your article! One question – what is in that giant metal cone? Is it fried tacos of some kind. I have to know.I used to eat some very crunchy fried tacos in Cd. Juarez that looked just like those. Alas, we can no longer cross the border and eat like we used to.Congratulations.

Thank you! On the metal cone — do you mean the pile of tacos? I think they were fried barbacoa tacos at the Libertad market in Guadalajara. I’m glad you liked the story!

    Hi Lesley,

I came across you from Mexico Cooks website, who I follow religiously. I loved your article on Birria and I have eaten at Birreria el Tartamudo in Jocotepec also, it was unforgettable!

Great to hear, Sharon. I’m glad you found me! Did you also see El Tartamudo himself? He’s a character.
