Mexican food and culture, on both sides of the border

Anyone need a mattress?

December 23, 2009 by Lesley Tellez

Spotted this pair this morning. The back dude was the yeller, shouting about mattresses for sale.

At least, this is what I think he said — I couldn’t understand him very well. Next time, perhaps they should go for a recorded message, like the tamale vendors do.

Nah, I like the personal touch of a indiscernible shouting. Megaphones and recordings are for suckas. 🙂

Valdez is right…they are buying used matresses… then they get rejuvenated & recycled. Every once in awhile they come through my neighborhood in Tlaxcala with a pickup truck & a P.A. system yelling…we buy old matresses.
